Team Rankings January 2024: IslesGT Dominates, Underdogs Resurge, and Unknown Talent Soars

WingelsDGC | January 26, 2024

As the dust settles around the Pacific Cup, let's look at the aftermath in the team rankings this month!

The virtual ice was hot with action as the San Jose Sharks Pacific Cup unfolded, showcasing the latest developments in the competitive world 6s. IslesGT emerged as the triumphant team, securing not only the championship but also reclaiming their throne at the top of the latest EASHL rankings. The event witnessed several noteworthy storylines that have significantly impacted the current team standings.

If you've never seen our team's ranking before, here's how it works:

Our team ranking is based on teams' achievements over the past year with point totals decaying as time goes on. Players are given point based on their team's perfomances, which will carry over throughout their history. As the current competitive climate does not allow it, we do not implement a "core roster" requirement, or a strictly team point total. Due to the decay in point values over time, more recent events will carry more weight to each rankings update.

As of January 26th, here is the top 20 team rankings:

Rank Team Points
1. IslesGT 1000.0
2. Caps Gaming 946.1
3. The Underdogs 726.9
4. Scary Hours 662.4

IslesGT's Dominance Reinforces Their Top Spot

Following their victorious performance at the Pacific Cup, IslesGT demonstrated once again why they are considered some of the best of the EASHL community. Their dominant display on the virtual ice showcased a level of skill and coordination that solidified their reign at the top of the rankings. IslesGT's exceptional teamwork and individual prowess rightfully place them back in the coveted number one position.

Underdogs Return With a Bang

After stepping back as a roster for the first event of the year, The Underdogs came back with a vengeance, securing a commendable 2nd place finish at the Pacific Cup. It was as if they never left, as they found themselves right back in the title contention conversation. The team has had plenty of good results, but will look to take the next step in taking home a title for their efforts. The core of this team has been close a few times, but will look to get over the hump in future events.

Unknown Talent Surges into Contention

Quietly making waves in the competitive EASHL scene, Unknown Talent has steadily climbed the rankings and recently catapulted themselves to 8th place after an impressive top 8 finish in the Pacific Cup. Their consistent performance over the past few tournaments has turned them into a team to watch. With their recent success, Unknown Talent has firmly established themselves as contenders heading into future events.

BBB's Resurgence

BBB, a team with a storied history of championship-caliber performances, experienced some sort of a new ember at the Pacific Cup. Despite a series of lackluster results in recent events, BBB showcased their former glory by reaching the top 8 and beating some formidable opponents along the way. This impressive turnaround has propelled them up the rankings by four spots, now sitting at #11. Considering this as Bones' last dance so to speak, it was good to see the storied brand fight hard in his potential last event. We’ll have to see what the roster looks like with his absence.

These teams will battle it out in Caps Gaming Season 5 starting on January 31st. We'll have all of the coverage, stats, and more right here!
