CBJ 6v6 Finale Week 1 Recap
Week 1 recap of the CBJ 6v6 Finale 2024!
We are through the opening week of the CBJ 6v6 finale, and it's time to look at the key performers and underperformers for their teams. There will be lots of interesting roster moves, new teams, and old rivalries to follow during this event. But with the first of 4 weeks finished, here's some of the top storylines heading into week number two.
The Last Undefeated Teams
There are only 2 teams left with a perfect record after 8 games, and both teams made significant changes heading into the event. At the top spot is Legends Never Die, sporting a very impressive +26 goal differential alongside their perfect record. Their additions up front with Beauvi at center and upstart Williamson at left have paid off massively early on for the team. Williamson is getting his first crack at a top level team after most recently playing his competitive 6s with WILDMAN HOCKEY. LND took a chance on his abilities and he’s rewarded them with 14 goals in 8 games, the most out of all skaters so far.
Bad Intentions revamped the Monarchs core and also have found early success from their changes. AyeKeeks leads the team with 16 points after a run of bad form with Turning Point. JoshWhx has 14 points through 7 games played. The big test for them will be their schedule, as they will go up against the top level teams from here on out, and will need to maintain their early form to continue near the top of the standings.
Roster Tinkering Paying Off
The teams at the top of the standings are not the only squads feeling rejuvenated after some roster spring cleaning. In fact, most of the teams celebrating a very strong week 1 made some adjustments to their starting 6. Starstruck added to the Never Unlucky core with players like MarcoGoes5H0LE and Mccutch, as well as a top form Vaynx posting a .859 save % to start the event. Instinct reunites after some time away as a roster and immediately reap the rewards of legacy chemistry. The additions to the Dahlia core have helped Highlanders to a 7-1 record. Turning Point and Just Tap It merged cores to rejuvenate a TxP squad to start the event. While sticking together is typically the best way to improve over time, teams who made big overhauls to their roster are seeing early success this spring.
